This study is investigating the effectiveness of the study treatment at reducing the severity / duration of respiratory symptoms associated with the common cold in patients with COPD.

This study is open to anyone who:
- Is between the ages of 40 and 85
- Has a confirmed diagnosis of COPD
- Has a history of COPD exacerbations within the past year.
(An exacerbation is any flare up of COPD that has required any increased use of medications or required steroids or hospitalisation.)
Other inclusion / exclusion criteria will apply and this will be discussed with you by one of our research team over the phone
Your participation in this study will last for up to 18 months and will involve taking the study treatment, or a placebo, once a day for 7 days during a time period when you have the cold. This study is placebo-controlled meaning half of the participants will receive the study treatment and the other half will receive a placebo.
Your participation will also involve visits to our clinic throughout the course of the study.
